Production Manager This role reports to the President
Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledgeable about residential and commercial construction and the processes involved

Strong communication and management skills of employees
-
Skilled in Buildertrend and Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

Strong organizational skills
-
Capable of dealing with conflict productively

Strong attention to details

Minimum 7 years of hands-on construction experience, preferably on residential remodels

Minimum 2 years experience as a direct supervisor hiring employees and conducting performance reviews

Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
General Responsibilities:

The standard workday is 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. In this position, there might not be many standard workdays. Be on time to work every day, calling the CEO before the start of the workday if illness or family emergency prevents your attendance that day. These are the two recognized reasons for missing work without prior notice.

Dressing in a professional manner for the tasks of the day. This includes company shirts and jackets as the weather dictates.

Manage the production of remodeling jobs to come in on budget, on schedule, and with a very satisfied customer.

Manage all Lead Carpenters and other field employees to achieve these results.

Act as the Lead Carpenter for one or two remodel jobs that have no Lead Carpenters.

Work closely with the Design Coordinator to ensure all newly signed projects are properly scheduled, packaged, and staged 6 weeks prior to the start date. In the case of a fast-tracked project, schedule a meeting with the Design Coordinator to make it happen.

Represent the Production Department at the weekly goals meeting.
-
Achieve the goals for the Production Department in terms of gross profit, schedule performance, and customer satisfaction.

Minimize involvement with the details of remodeling projects. Spend most of your time managing, delegating, organizing, and coaching.

Manage all production staff and train all production employees.

Ensure proper maintenance of all company vehicles, trailers, tools, and equipment used by remodeling employees.

Schedule all remodel work and the employees necessary to get it produced on schedule.

Based on the production schedule, tell the Sales Manager when we can start the next project.

Review plans and production packages for completeness; accept or reject them for production.
-
Continually improve our production process.

Conduct performance reviews with the CEO for all field employees.
-
Enforce company policies, such as BT daily logs & timecards, vendor invoice coding, etc.
-
In your absence, due to illness or attending to other responsibilities, you are responsible for seeing that field employees remain on task and are productive and that your job requirements are fulfilled. The Production Coordinator could help with this in your absence.

Represent Foremost Builders in a professional and respectful manner with the clients, trade partners, and Foremost Team members.
Customer Satisfaction:
-
Communicate weekly with the client by phone or in-person if possible about schedule, cleanliness, changes, and other possible concerns. (Weekly Scheduled Meeting)

Visit the project at least once a week to complete a site visit checklist.
-
Get answers to the client’s questions and concerns within 24 hours and respond.
-
Provide any Change Orders within 48 hours with the help of the Design Coordinator if needed.
-
Solicit feedback on carpenters’ work from the Lead Carpenter.
Personnel Management:

Meet with Lead Carpenter on the job once a week and review:

Evaluate each field employee every six months to assess growth, needs, and set goals.

Provide instruction for field employees to assist them in reaching their goals set in the review.

Schedule support personnel each week as requested by the Lead Carpenters.

Maintain a workforce adequate for producing the volume of work projected by the administration of Foremost Builders.
-
Forecast personnel needs so that hiring/trade partners acquisitions can be made before crisis arrives.
-
Assess that field employee’s work efficiency and aid in improvement as needed.
-
Hold field employees accountable for their job description and classification.
-
Other duties as assigned by the CEO.
Financial Responsibilities:
-
Provide information to sales about change orders so that sales can price properly
-
Advise bookkeeping about job progress for billing, deliver invoices to the client, and collect payment when needed. Most billing is done through Buildertrend.
-
Review job costs weekly to identify trends of money losses and report them back to the Design department and CEO.

Approve payment to sub-contractors based on the okay from Lead Carpenters.
Administration:
-
Provide scheduling updates and expected money collection information to office staff weekly.
-
Provide a schedule of projected job starts to sales at least 6 weeks ahead.
-
Participate with Lead Carpenter on job completion walk-through and provide help as needed to ensure the list is complete in 48 hours.
